The author is clearly engaged with Australian history and the lives of women, and Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits includes some lovely descriptions and interesting historical aspects of both cities and the outback.

Sydney, 1925.
At five years of age, Alice was already a master pickpocket, stealing in the courthouse during her father’s trial.
A decade later, seizing an opportunity to escape his control, Alice is forced to flee the city and hide in the Blue Mountains. There, she finds refuge with two endearing elderly sisters, who have their own hidden ties to crime.
Driven by her love for horses, Alice embarks on a journey across Australia — from the lush greenery of Adelaide to the arid outback of Western Australia. Along the way, she faces countless dangers, but her determined spirit keeps her going, fuelled by an unshakable desire for a life filled with love and belonging.
Though her morals hold strong, there are times when she must call upon her old skills when the stakes are at their highest.
Born into a world of crime and hardship, how far will she go to find her glorious sunshine?

About the author
Tracey Friday grew up in the English countryside and now resides in Sydney with her family and mischievous cavoodles. After college, her career has spanned the newspaper industry, the UK and Australian Government and a lawyer’s office. In her twenties, Tracey dreamed of writing a book, but it was only decades later when storyline plots set in bygone eras became her passion.

Tracey enjoys a high tea and wishes she could hold a tune - oh, and who doesn’t love a Friday?

I found 'Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits' so lovely to read. I fell in love with Alice and I had to keep reading to find out what turns would happen next. Alice is the kind of person that you want to be friends with because no matter how harsh her start was in life, she didn't allow that to rule her future.
Carla
I enjoyed Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits very much. Alice was a strong character who was very likeable and I wanted her to succeed all the way.
Her encounter with the lovely elderly ladies in the Blue Mountains was beautiful and they helped her very much. I was pleased when her life turned around as she hoped.
I would recommend this book to anyone wanting an easy read over the holidays.

Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits, by Tracey Friday is a great book to curl up with. The characters are likeable and believable. I quickly became engrossed in the story and clung to the hope that Alice would eventually find her rightful place in the world. Luckily life pans out beautifully for Alice, as it definitely should. Her torturous childhood apart, she eventually finds the man and life she always wanted!
A truly feel good read, I enjoyed it!

Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits follows Alice who starts life as a disappointment to her father simply for being born a girl. He is a nasty man who rules the house through fear. He uses Alice for his gain by teaching her the art of pickpocketing. She is excellent at it but as she gets older she is torn as her morals begin to take over.
She discovers her love for horses and works hard to save to escape the grips of their tragic lives with the father.
Sudden circumstances see her take off on the train and she begins her journey, driven by the desire for love.
I loved this book. It had good characters as well as undesirables. It was sad at times but also contained a lot of love.
I highly recommend this to anyone who would love a love story set in different locations across Australia.

Tracey Friday’s debut novel “Thursday’s Child” is truly a beautiful story. Tracey’s ability to capture the personality of every character was incredible and writes in a way that makes you feel sentimental.

I couldn't put it down. I can't wait
for the sequel to find out what happens to lovely Maggie.
